The month of October and May is dedicated to the Holy Rosary. The feast of Our Lady of the Rosary is October 7 and the best way to celebrate this, is to pray the rosary. Mrs Page has carried out Collective Worship throughout the school, explaining the importance of praying the rosary and what the Mysteries mean. The four Mysteries, 'Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious and Luminous' surround the life of our Lord Jesus Christ and our blessed Mother. Students are reminded to think of these events whilst praying.
They can also reflect on joyful or sad moments of their own lives as they are moving through the beads. It has become an exciting child lead experience, whereby some children lead the Our Father, Hail Mary's and Glory be at the front. The rest of the pupils carry out the second part of the prayers, using rosary beads or their fingers.
Our Chaplaincy group have been visiting each class before the end of the school day to lead a decade of the rosary. Students have been encouraged to say at least one decade of the rosary a week with their families at home. It would be wonderful if this could continue throughout the course of the year!
