The CST assemblies have supported our students with understanding where the principles and character mascots originate. The Pope is encouraging everyone to make the world a better place. Schools in every country are being inspired to live out the Gospel and put their faith into action. Our children can be the change by actively working together to make a difference now. CAFOD have provided brilliant resources to equip children with achieving this.
The CST assemblies have been a huge success! Each year group have focused on one principle and mascot. They devised their own child lead assembly and an action thereafter, e.g. Yr 5 'Sofia the Sloth' which demonstrated 'Stewardship.' The assembly included scripture, roleplay, prayer, music, dance and reflection. It was an excellent example of peer teaching and gave students ownership of issues they consider paramount, such as climate change, recycling and littering. They researched, collaborated and shared their knowledge with the school. They also carried out prayers and questions at the end of the assembly to their fully engaged audience.
A group of steward helpers now regularly collect litter, turn off taps, lights and electrical devices like the interactive whiteboards throughout the school day. We are always educating our students to be the agents of innovation and transformation with a commitment to help others.
