NEWSLETTER No.28 – 1 April 2021

Dear Parents

Thank you for your kind and thoughtful Easter wishes. This term ended today with Stations of the Cross led by our Year 6 children, which has been recorded and put on our website under “Catholic Life”. The children read beautifully, re-telling the story of Easter.  It was amazing and inspiring and the artwork was exceptionally creative, well done!

To end our Easter festivities today, the children took part in an Easter Egg hunt, which is always a fun and “eggciting” activity!

Over the past few weeks our Year 3 and 4 children have been practising very hard for their Easter Production which, for this year, has been filmed.  Parents of children in these year groups will be sent the password and link to enable them to view it via Seesaw. We hope you enjoy it!  Children in school have viewed it this afternoon.

Following the letter that went out to all families yesterday, we would like to confirm that Mrs Whittle has accepted the role of CEO for KCSP.  She will take up this role with effect from 1 May but will continue to be the Executive Principal at St Margaret’s until a replacement is found.  This will be an exciting and wide-ranging role and I am sure you will join me and all the staff as we offer our sincere congratulations and best wishes.

It is with great sadness that we say ‘farewell’ to Mrs Barnes who is leaving us to pursue other interests. Mrs Barnes has been a member of our staff community for many years and has shared her love of art with the children in numerous amazing and memorable ways. We will miss her very much, but hope to persuade her to return to run ad hoc art days.

We also say farewell to Mrs Hughes our co-chair of the PTA and wonderful TA, who is leaving SMC as she and her family are moving.  It is much too far for commuting, unfortunately, we wish them all the very best with their new adventures!

Over the Easter period Miss Ventress will be getting married and returning to school as Mrs Nash.  We would like to wish her a wonderful day and every future happiness with Mr Nash!

Reporting COVID over the holidays – Please follow the link on the website under News and Events COVID-19.

The new term menu is now on Parentpay. Please ensure all dinners are booked in advance (midnight on Saturday) of the new term, this will guarantee that your child/ren have been included in the dinner numbers. It is really helpful if you book for the whole term, especially if your child is in receipt of universal free school meals (Rec – Year 2).

It is very helpful if you email to let us know of any absences together with the reason.  We have been asked to report any unauthorised absences on the same day to Virtual School Kent for their follow-up.

We are pleased to say that mSporti are now able to safely run their Tuesday and Thursday after school football and multi-skills clubs.  You will need to book and pay online at  Please note that there is NO PARKING on site for collection from clubs.

New Co Chair and additional committee members needed!

After learning of the sad news that Mrs Hughes is stepping down as Co-Chair of the PTA, we would like to say a big thank you for all of her hard work and dedication and she will be greatly missed.

With this news it means we are now looking for a new Co Chair but would also like to welcome new people on to the committee as well. If you are interested or would even like to talk about what this would involve please email

Don't forget to sign up to the PTA quiz on Saturday 10th April 2021; 5-6:30pm with a chance to win a delicious box of Angel Bakes cupcakes!

While we still can't meet in large groups, we've put together this online quiz for your family to play as a team and compete against your SMC friends. Hosted on ahaslides and zoom, there will be questions for all the family.   Entry is £10 per family and once you've bought a ticket you will be emailed on the day of the quiz with instructions on how to join in.  So brush up on your general knowledge and polish those brain cells - we hope to see you there!

Follow the link to get your ticket - if you are not registered on our pta-events page yet, please, register and allow time to be approved before buying your ticket.

It saddens me to have to report that we have had further complaints from residents following inconsiderate and illegal parking in the nearby roads.  Please use the 6in1 club car park and walk the short distance to school if you are unable to park within the law and considerately.  Cars should not be parked on yellow lines, blocking driveways, dropped kerbs, pathways or on the grass verges.  It is important that we keep on good terms with our neighbours, so would really appreciate your support with this.

Please also make sure that your child remains with you when crossing the road.

I wish you all a restful holiday and a joyful and blessed Easter. I look forward to seeing the children on Monday 19 April.

Yours sincerely

Caroline Ryan

Academy Principal

Happy Easter. Stations of the Cross are in the Catholic Life section of the website. The artwork is amazing and the reflections beautifully read and thoughtful. Thank you for Walking for Water with CAFOD - you have raised a fabulous £1678.25!
