ST MARGARET CLITHEROW CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL
We have had a busy start to the school year with lots of activities for the children. We have welcomed our new Reception classes and also other children around the school. It has also been lovely to see the children enjoying the wonderful weather this week!
Please remember to book school lunches by midnight Saturday, for the following week. If you have not been able to book, you must provide a packed lunch for your child. The kitchen cook to order so they do need to know the numbers so as to cater correctly. If a child arrives at school with no booked lunch and no packed lunch, parents will be asked to bring one to school.
I would like to remind you that we are a nut-free school, as I am sure that you already know. However, I would like to alert us all to sesame, which is included in that category. Sesame often appears as an ingredient, such as oil or sesame paste in hummus, for example. There are some highly-allergic children in school and I am asking for everyone’s vigilance in keeping them safe.
SCHOOL FRUIT SCHEME
Children who have been signed up to this scheme (£10 for their whole school career here) will receive a piece of fruit or vegetable for mid-morning snack with a plain biscuit one day a week. Can we ask that those children bringing snacks from home also follow those guidelines: plain biscuit once a week and fruit or vegetable for the other days?
Please ensure you activate your Parentpay account as soon as possible, so you do not miss out on any important information as this is our principal way of communicating. Thank you.
All Teacher-led school clubs will begin next week and have been very popular. Lists are available in your child’s classroom. Please ask your child to check the list to see which clubs they will be attending. Some clubs are full and these will have a reserve list, which will be clearly marked. As spaces become available we will inform the next child on the list.
Curriculum letters, with details of the learning for the terms up to Christmas, for each phase group are being distributed today, along with the school calendar. All newsletters and most notices are distributed by Parentpay and details are also on our school website.
END OF DAY BUS
We have two public bus services that leave our school at the end of the school day, they both go up the High Street to the Station, the 211 then goes up Brook Street to Molescroft Way and the 224 goes down Pembury Road towards Weald. If you would like your child to catch the bus, please let the school office and their teacher know, which days/stops they will be getting off at. We are unable to allow Reception and KS1 children to ride the bus without an older sibling or a parent accompanying them. All children MUST pay when they get on the bus, if they do not have the money, they will not be able to catch the bus and parents will be called to collect them.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind all parents and anyone who you may ask to either drop your children at school or collect them at the end of the day, to please be considerate to our neighbours. This includes parking legally, not on yellow lines, grass verges, across driveways or on the pavement. We have already had complaints from neighbours about noise levels and parents blocking driveways. We work hard to retain good relationships with our neighbours and would appreciate your support with this. The Six in One Club kindly allows parents to use their car park at the start and end of the school day.
SECONDARY SCHOOL VIEWINGS
Secondary schools are now advertising their Open Morning/Evenings. We would encourage you not to take your child out of school to attend the morning viewings but to attend the evening dates instead. Please remember that any absence from school should be requested in writing with at least two weeks’ notice.
I shall walk in the presence of God
