Good Friday- Jesus' words from the Cross

Together with the children we thought about Jesus' last sayings from the Cross. Many of the children already knew some of Jesus' last words.

We explored both the surface and underlying messages of these sayings and then thought about what this would mean in our lives.

The children spontaneously decided to focus on the sentence, "I thirst."

After thinking of how important  water is for life, the children moved on to the metaphorical sense. What else do we thirst for?

Their ideas:

  • love
  • friendship
  • forgiveness
  • justice
  • truth
  • help
  • opportunities

We are all thirsty for the "rivers of living water" .
