NEWSLETTER No 8 – 2 November 2018

Dear Parents

It was lovely to see many families and our Governors at our All Saints Mass on Thursday morning and we are always very pleased with how beautifully our children write and lead prayers, lay the altar and join in during this time of reflection and prayer. The Governors very much enjoyed spending time with the children at Mass and during lunch.

We have greatly enjoyed seeing the children’s work and their progress since September. I am always delighted to see the children’s enthusiasm for learning and friendship.

Class 3/4 EF gave an exciting and inspiring assembly, where the children shared their skills and talents with the school. They reflected on God’s message, reminding us to not hide our light, and to lead a life where we make the most of all our individual and extraordinary qualities. Well done to all for sharing themselves and their skills with us.

Our Football team A played an exciting and close run match against Hildenborough Primary School on Wednesday, finishing in a draw. Football team B thrilled with an impressive second half, putting great pressure on the other team. Our netball team once again won, demonstrating great developing netball skills! All our pupils showed true team spirit and sportsmanship. The next fixture is on Wednesday 7 November at Home where both the Football and Netball teams will be playing.

The children will be have brought home their photo proofs this week. All orders, with payment enclosed, will need to be with the school office by Monday 12 November to ensure their return before Christmas.

  1. Christi church will be holding their annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday 24 November 2018 at Fisher Hall from 10am to 2pm. The children will be bringing home a book of raffle tickets (£1.00 per ticket or £5.00 per book). If you would like to purchase them please place the stubs and money in an envelope marked “ Christi Bazaar” and return to the office. Extra books are available from the office.

FIREWORKS DISPLAY – 3 November – Gates open 5pm and first rocket at 6pm

Wrist bands and tickets for each member of your family who have bought tickets will be coming home with your eldest child this afternoon. Tickets have now been distributed for this event. There will be no tickets available at the gate. Please ensure all ticket holders are wearing their wrist bands (children included) as you will not gain access to the school grounds without them. There is no parking in the school grounds. Please can parents park considerately in the neighbouring roads, making sure there is access for buses and driveways. Thank you.

POPPIES and Remembrance Day items (rulers, key rings etc £1 each) will be on sale to the children next week.

Over the next two terms, Yr3/4 classes will be swimming on Thursday mornings for three weeks at a time.

Monday 12 November 7pm for 7.30pm

I look forward to seeing many of you on 12 November to discuss, in an informal social setting, the Governors’ report to parents. Paper copies will also be available from the school office. Light refreshments will be available on the evening, kindly provided by the Governors and PTA, who will hold their AGM immediately following the Governors meeting.

SCHOOL LUNCHES for November and December

Thank you to all those who have booked school lunches for this term. Just a reminder that you can book your child’s lunches up until the end of this term.

The new menu for this term, which starts on the 5 November, has been uploaded onto our website, where you may view the choices available.

Monday 19, Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 November 3.30pm to 6.00pm. You will now be able to book your appointment via our online system. Details will be sent out soon by email. Please contact the school office if you require assistance with this.

Just a reminder to consider our neighbours whilst parking considerately to ensure good neighbourly relations. We ask that parents are careful not to park over our neighbours’ driveways, and avoid parking over the pavement, as this can cause an obstruction, which is a legal offence and can lead to a fine from traffic wardens. The grassed areas are obviously not for parking. Many thanks for your support on this matter.

Please take a look at our website where you will find the term dates for 2019-2020 academic year.

Parents of children in 3/4MTY are welcome to join us for their class assembly on Friday 9 November 2018, at 9 o’ clock.

Yours sincerely

Caroline Ryan
