NEWSLETTER No 10 – 16 November 2018

Dear Parents

  1. morning Mrs Taylor’s class held a thoughtful and encouraging assembly, reminding us of the importance of friendship, what it means to be a friend, and how we can be a friend of God. The children worked very hard and it showed in their beautiful art design, singing and prayers. Thank you to everyone for all their hard work and to the parents and grandparents who joined us.

Thank you to the children and parents for bringing in gifts for the Dads and Granddads this morning. Next Friday, donations of gifts of Chocolates and Sweets would be greatly appreciated (please ensure they are in date).

Our football and Hi5 netball teams played great matches on Wednesday against Long Mead School, winning both their games. They were very friendly and enjoyable matches with all players showing excellent sportsmanship and team spirit. There will be no further matches until the end of January 2019.

CONSULTATIONS

Reports are being sent home today with children in Years 1, 3, and 5 only. Pupils in Years R, 2, 4, and 6 will have reports in the Spring Term. All children also receive an end of year report in July.

We are delighted that many of you have made appointments to meet your child’s class teacher at consultation evenings next week. School will finish at the normal time. If you have a 3.30pm appointment, please pick up your child and wait in the hall for your child’s teacher. These appointments are 10 minute appointments, please consider other parents and end on time. If you need more time with a particular teacher, you can arrange a separate meeting for a later date.

  1. Data Sheets will be handed out via your child’s teacher at consultations. These will need to be checked for any amendments, signed and returned immediately to the box provided, situated by the office door. As part of our safeguarding policy, we ask that you provide three names and contact numbers for each child.

The following after school clubs are CANCELLED next week due to Consultations:

Tuesday: Netball Club

Wednesday: Active Club and ART Club

Thursday: Running club and mSporti multi skills club

*Miss Charles’ and Mrs Tyrie’s small morning groups on Wednesday, will go ahead as normal.*

Parking will be available on site from 4.30pm only, in the top car park. However due to the limited spaces available, we would ask you to consider parking off site if possible. The school drive has to be kept clear at all times for emergency vehicle access – so please do not park on the school drive and take extra care when arriving and leaving as it will be dark and there are children on site.

GOVERNORS’ ANNUAL MEETING WITH PARENTS

  1. Governors’ meeting with parents and the PTA AGM last Monday was a very pleasant and informative evening. I would like to thank everyone for the cheque from the PTA presented on Monday for an outstanding £15,000, raised over the last year. Money raised by the PTA makes an enormous difference to our school, and is used to further support and enhance the children’s learning and experience at school. We used last year’s donation to redevelop the courtyard area, to pay for the school pantomime, the new PA system and laptops for the children. I wish to extend a special thank you to the co-chairs and the executive team of the PTA, as well as the committee members who work very hard throughout the year to support our school in so many ways, and create our community.

*ADVANCE NOTICE*

KS1 proudly presents: THE CHRISTMAS CODE: MONDAY 10 and WEDNESDAY 12 DECEMBER at 6pm.

We are holding two evening performances this year. Due to numbers, we can only allocate a maximum of 2 seats per performance per family in KS1 (total 4 tickets over the two performances). For Health and Safety reasons any children coming to watch with you will each require a ticket and will be allocated a seat. Children at school will have seen the dress rehearsal in school.

Details of how to order tickets will follow next week.

Parents can take photographs and record the production for their personal use. Please do not upload images onto the internet.

CAROL SERVICE at CORPUS CHRISTI SUNDAY 2 DECEMBER 3.30pm and

CORPUS CHRISTI CHRISTMAS VIGIL MASS 24 DECEMBER 6.30pm

Our school will be leading some of the carols and acting at this service, as well as leading the Christmas Vigil Mass. We look forward to seeing many of you at this festive event. To help us organise children to take part in the Tableau and be candle bearers it would be helpful if you could let us know if your child is going to be present. The whole school will be singing from the sanctuary steps.

CHRISTMAS TREES – STONEPITTS FARM

Stonepitts Farm in Hildenborough, will donate £2.00 to our school for every Christmas tree bought by our families. All you need to do is simply show them a copy of this newsletter when purchasing your tree and it will count towards the final donation to the school. For further details please go to www.stonepitts.com for details and directions.

ASSEMBLY

Parents of children in 3/4CV are welcome to join us for their class assembly on Friday 23 November 2018 at 9am.

PARKING

It was very unfortunate that this week we received photographs from the local bus company, showing parents’ cars from our school, parked illegally on the corner of the crossroad intersection. This caused a major issue for the public bus, which was not able to manoeuvre around these parked cars, making this service late and causing inconvenience for their paying customers. The police are aware of this problem. We would again ask that you park considerately and legally, and to please consider neighbours and other motorists. Please do feel free to use the Six In One club, who have kindly allowed us to use their carpark on Northwood Road, which is a short walk and a convenient place to park.

Yours sincerely

Caroline Ryan

Academy Principal

Today we welcomed our local MP Tom Tugendhat to school, to present the prize to the runner up in the Christmas card competition. Mr Tugendhat also stayed to answer informed and thoughtful questions from our Year 5/6 pupils.
