NEWSLETTER No 39 - 6 July 2018

Dear Parents

In our Assembly this morning we celebrated lots of the children’s achievements over the past few weeks. We are very proud of our children as they continue to work very hard in all they do.

Last Saturday’s summer fair was another brilliant success and the weather was perfect! Many thanks to the PTA for organising this wonderful event which is so popular and well supported by our community. The initial count shows a staggering £8,500 was raised – this is a tremendous achievement which will benefit the children immensely. Thank you to all who came, donated gifts, helped or organised.

There are some cakes that are left over from the Summer Fair and they will be on sale after school today by the lost property table.

It has been another very busy week beginning on Monday with teams from our Year 4 – 6 children taking part in the KCSP Big Sports Day at the Julie Rose Stadium in Ashford. The children represented our school beautifully and we are very proud to announce that our Year 3/4 team came first and won the cup! This is an amazing achievement, well done to all the children who took part. Please see our team photos on our website.

On Monday our Year 1/2 children visited Himalayan Gardens where they did lots of different activities including den building and a scavenger hunt. They all enjoyed themselves and participated fully in all they did. We received an email from Himalayan Gardens saying how well mannered and well behaved the children were, and what a delight it was to have them visit. Thank you to all the parent helpers and staff for all your hard work.

On Tuesday our Year 3/4 children visited Eagle Heights where they spent time learning about the huskies and birds of prey. Despite it being a very warm day the children showed great focus and enthusiasm for the spectacular animals on display and had fun!. Thank you to all the parent helpers and staff for all your hard work.

The pupils in Year 5 attended the Community Day at Tonbridge School on Wednesday where there was a wide variety of activities from a musical dance class to football. They were able to try activities that they wouldn’t normally have an opportunity to take part in and thoroughly enjoyed the day. This is always a huge event to organise and Tonbridge School did a fabulous job!

Our Kwik Cricket teams played against many other local Primary Schools on Wednesday in Kingshill. Again it was a hot day, they all played with great spirit and really enjoyed taking part. Well done for all your efforts and it was commented by the organisers that our children showed great sportsmanship and we were very pleased by their skills too!

We were delighted to welcome our new Reception Class children enjoyed an induction morning yesterday when all other pupils ‘moved up’ to their new classes and teachers. Our Yr6 pupils also visited their new secondary schools.

Our Reception classes will be visiting Knole Park Wednesday 11 July. Please ensure all permission slips and payments are made before the trip. We are praying for continued good weather.

UKS2 PRODUCTION: Treasure Island: Tuesday 10 July and Thursday 12 July at 6pm

Parents of pupils in Years 5 and 6 are welcome to come and see our UKS2 production. To ensure that all families have an equal opportunity for seats at these performances, we will allocate a maximum of 2 seats per performance per family. Due to fire regulations, numbers in the hall are limited and accompanying children will not be able to “sit on laps”; they will need a ticket. Children at school will have seen a performance in school.

Tickets were issued this week. If you have not yet ordered any please contact the school office as bookings are closing at 3.30 today.

Children should arrive back at school via the front entrance: Yr6 at 5pm and Yr5 at 5.15pm and should assemble in their classrooms. Refreshments will be available before the performances in the gallery when the doors open at 5pm. As you are aware there is very limited parking on site and the lower part of the driveway does not accommodate two cars passing each other. If you are dropping your child and leaving please park off site and walk your child down to the office. If you are bringing your child and remaining for the production you are welcome to drop your child and park on site but you will not be able to move your car until the end of the production when everybody is leaving. We will monitor the playground and close the gates when the playground is full. Please be considerate at all times. You may want to park off site, remembering not to block driveways or access, as this will probably make your arrival and leaving easier. If you are not staying for the production you will need to collect your child at about 7.30pm.

Parents can take photographs and record the production for their personal use. Please do not upload images onto the internet including social media eg Facebook.

MUSIC CONCERT Monday 16 July

Children who are taking part in these concerts have been advised by Miss Johnston and invitations to parents of the children taking part have been sent out. Please can you let the office know if you are able to join us.

All Teacher led clubs have now finished. Msporti lunchtime and afterschool clubs will continue until the end of term. Dance club and Sewing club finish on Tuesday 3 July and Gym Club finishes on Tuesday 10 July.

Swimming will finish for everyone on Thursday 12 July 2018.

We are currently full for the siblings viewing morning on Thursday 12 July. If you are now unable to make your appointment time please let the office know. If you have not yet booked an appointment, you will be able to book onto one from September.

As you are aware we will be unable to send out any information eg: Newsletters, home learning etc to your email address unless you have specifically replied to our previous message acknowledging that you are happy for information to come out to you. Therefore, please complete the attached form and return it to the school office if you have not already done so. Thank you.

We have a large number of items that need to be reunited with their owners. If you think your child may have lost any times, please ask them to check during the week, we will put a table out by the double gates today at the end of school for parents to look. All unclaimed items will be recycled.

Yours sincerely

Annemarie Whittle
